Winters are especially hard on the homeless but a group of doctors from the UVM Medical Center hopes to keep them from getting cold feet.
On Wednesday, the Committee on Temporary Shelter also known as COTS held their 10th annual Hearts for Soles.
Those who attended were given a free foot exam from the doctors, a few pairs of warm socks and a new pair of sturdy winter boots to help them get through the season.
“Shoes are the way that people get around and if your wearing have boots that have holes or there aren’t new treads its dangerous so this is the way to sure people up for the winter months ahead.” Said Rita Markley, Executive Director of COTS.
At last check over 50 people had received a foot exam and an new pair of boots.
