The fire department in Johnson, Vermont got a big thank you after the department’s hard work during the ice jams from the Lamoille River.
The ice jams on January 13 caused more than a foot of water to flood area buildings including Sterling Market.
Thanks to the quick response of area firefighters, the market was back in business within a week.
Pomerleau Real Estate, Associated Grocers and the owners of Sterling Market surprised the fire department with a donation of $20,000.
Johnson’s fire chief says the donation will be used for a new rescue truck.
