New York State Fair officials are puzzled after popular performer Justin Bieber’s face was destroyed at the Sand Sculpture exhibit.
The Sand Sculpture exhibit is among the New York State Fair’s most popular attractions each year.
This year’s exhibit features popular musicians and performers from the past few decades in honor of the State Fair’s Grandstand, which was demolished in January.
State Police believe that a Fair-goer – possibly intoxicated – fell into the sculpture.
At least one other exhibitor told NewsChannel 9 WSYR that he saw a man in his 30s circle the sculpture before falling into it.
“Maybe this is an individual who may have been intoxicated, or maybe had an issue exactly with Mr. Bieber. Certainly, we’re going to keep an eye on things and we’re investigating it. We’re hoping that anybody who has any information on it, whatever it may have been, contact the State Police here at the State Fair,” said Trooper Jack Keller.
Team Sandtastic – the sculptors – have moved on to their next project. Fair officials say the Sand Sculpture will not likely be repaired before the Fair ends next week.
