Winter Fest has returned to Rutland for the 16th year, and events kicked off Friday night. Rutland’s Recreation and Parks department along with 35 partners made it all possible.
Friday nights first event is a free community skating event at Giorgetti Area.
We caught up with April Cioffi, the programs director of Rutland Recreation and Parks Friday morning at Main Street Park.
Crews were preparing the park for Saturday’s snow sculpting competition, it starts at 10am and ends at 2pm. It’s a free event for the entire family, and there will be a chili cook off to boot!
“One of our biggest events is obviously, the sledding down center street. We do tubing right through the middle of down town. Last year we had roughly 700-800 people just to sled the hill,” said Cioffi.
