Local 22 & Local 44 Celebrates Nexstar’s “Founder’s Day of Caring” Volunteering at Burton Island

It’s not every day you get to spend your workday on a beautiful island!  Local 22 & Local 44 employees got a chance to do just that Friday.

To celebrate our parent company’s 21st year, Nexstar stations across the country took time to give back to their communities.  For this year’s “Founders Day of Caring”, we partnered with Vermont State Parks to help clean up and beautify Burton Island.  We trimmed branches along some beautiful trails, raked the beaches, cleaned windows and picked up trash.

Katherine Yoder is the park manager and she says they really do appreciate volunteers.
“It also gives them a chance to be part of not just the system that gives them the chance to recreate for us as Vermonters, but to be a part of the system that showcases the best parts, the beautiful parts of Vermont for the rest of the country and even the world, we get visitors from all over the world,” Yoder said.

A special shout-out to our very own Amanda Lindquist, who championed the effort.
