A Canadian truck driver has been ticketed for the season’s first violation of Title 23, Chapter 13, Subchapter 1, Subsection 1006b of state statutes — aka as attempting to operate a tractor-trailer on Smuggler’s Notch.

Jeremie Berry, 59, of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, got stuck late Tuesday morning on the Notch section of Vermont Route 108, which is off limits to commercial vehicles.

Traffic from both Cambridge and Stowe sides was halted for about an hour before Berry, who was traveling southbound, was able to turn the truck around.

Troopers cited Berry for the violation, which carries a $1,197 fine, plus two points on the driver’s license.
