Vermonters had the chance to participate in Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday. It’s held twice a year on the national level. It’s designed to provide people with a safe way to dispose of their leftover pills with no questions asked.
South Burlington Police was set up in the University Mall parking lo Saturdayt, which was just one of several drop off locations across the state.
“We don’t want anybody having leftover presription drugs, specifically opioids with the crisis going on in Vermont,” said Det. Dale Crispin of the South Burlington Police. “We want to be here to take that back.”
The DEA will take whatever’s collected and destroy it. In October 2018, nearly 6,000 lbs of pills were collected in Vermont alone.
