U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Champlain Port of Entry seized a shipment of more than 500 counterfeit Nike ear buds and 200 counterfeit Eclipse watches. The shipment was said to be worth $22,599.
According to Customs and Border Patrol, the seizure happened on July 24, when CBP officers discovered ear buds and watches that “appeared to be of poor quality” while inspecting commercial goods that had arrived from Canada, eventually discovering they were counterfeit.
“Counterfeit merchandise harms the economy, American consumers, retailers and trademark holders,” said CBP Port Director Steven Bronson. “Our import specialists and officers are highly trained in the enforcement of Intellectual Property Right laws and detecting counterfeit goods.”
