Fire that destroyed Middlebury home considered suspicious

Vermont arson investigators say a fire that destroyed a Court Street home in Middlebury early Monday is considered suspicious

Three people in the home got out safely, authorities said, and there were no injuries.

MIddlebury police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene at about 3:35 am Monday and found the house at 74 Court Street engulfed in flames. Crews from Middlebury, Salisbury, Cornwall and New Haven helped extinguish the fire in about 45 minutes.

The fire started in the rear end of the house at 74 Court Street, authorities said.

Traffic was reduced to one lane near Monroe and Cross streets n the area of Middlebury High School
