The Fletcher Free Library received a $2,500 grant from the Vermont Community Foundation’s Spark! Connecting Community grant program.

This is to support the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. The grant will help further the library’s mission to inform, enrich and nurture a community of lifelong learners.

The Fletcher Free Library’s 1,000 Books program was launched in May in partnership with Champlain Valley Head Start at two preschools.

Youth Services Head Librarian Rebecca Goldberg says, “It’s great to be part of a program where parents and caregivers create wonderful memories for their children from daily reading and conversation, while also providing their children with the skills needed to succeed in school.”

This new grant will help add a third Head Start location to the program and an in-house library supporting all of Burlington’s early learner’s.
