Flights halted at Burlington International as next storm draws near

All of Tuesday’s remaining flights into and out of Burlington International Airport have been cancelled in anticipation of a major winter storm forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning.

With 12 inches or more predicted for the Burlington region, airlines at BTV have also cancelled flights early Wednesday.

“The final flights in tononight would be the first flicghts out uin the morning,” said Nick Longo., the airoport’s deputy director of operations. “Folks are being rebooked to afternoon flights or the airlines are providing other options.”

The last flight out of BTV on Tuesday was American AA4812, which left at 3:20 pm for Philadelphia. 

The rest of the day’s departures — nine in all — to Newark, JFK and LaGuardia in New York, Washington, D.C., and Columbus, Ohio, have been canceled.

Longo said the airport will remain open and crews will be out clearing the runways.
