Crews from Green Mountain Power headed north to help more than 200,000 Hydro-Quebec customers who are still without power after an ice storm blew through the province Monday..
Field Operations Manager Eric Lemery said GMP will send 50 people and 30 trucks, including 21 of bucket trucks, to communities northeast of Montréal.
“Every district office has their own rotation of who goes out of state with these mutual aid trips,” Lemery said. “We talk with supervisors, and they line up who’s going. Then we have to put a roster together of different trucks, birthdays, and passport numbers. Quite a long time to logistically put it together.
About 213,000 customers were without power as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, Hydro-Quebec reported.
Lemery said he expects GMP to be in the region until at least Friday, depending on the damage.
