Homeless man charged with assaulting three 7-year-old girls

Local News

A 46-year-old man is being held without bail Monday, accused of attacking three young girls from Barre in late January.

Police say the three girls were playing in the snow when they heard someone repeatedly screaming for help. When they went to check on the man, identified as Jason Fewer, he allegedly attacked them.

Jim Manning, the father of one of the girls, said Fewer grabbed his daughter by the throat and threw her to the ground.

Fewer, who told police he had consumed 15 beers, faces numerous charges, including aggravated assault.

The Manning family says they’re left to deal with the trauma their daughter is facing after being assaulted.

Tabitha Manning said her daughter is currently being treated for a concussion.

“I got a call from her from the school she was in tears and crying and having a really hard time,” she said

Fewer didn’t appear at a hearing Monday after a change of attorney. He could be sentenced to 15 years in prison for the aggravated assault charge.
