Human remains found after house fire in St. Johnsbury

Human remains were discovered inside a home destroyed by a fire in St. Johnsbury Tuesday night, according to Vermont State Police.

Police say, when firefighters arrived at 319 Crepeault Hill Road just before 10:30pm, the building was fully engulfed in flames and starting to collapse.

Once the fire was taken down, badly burned human remains were located inside. The identity of the victim has not been identified.

The home is owned by Timothy Persons, 52, of St. Johnsbury, according to police.

His vehicle has not been located. It’s described as a green 2005 Dodge Caravan, license plate GLP263.

Anyone that may have been in the area at the time of the fire or with information on the whereabouts of Persons or his vehicle is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Mark Potter or Detective Sergeant Michael LaCourse at 802-748-3111.
