Freezing rain during the evening commute Wednesday made for dangerous travel conditions, causing a chain-reaction crash involving 13 cars on I-89 northbound in the town of Richmond.
Vermont State Police say drivers in both lanes of the interstate lost control of their vehicles and were struck by a tractor trailer attempting to get past them Other vehicles trying to avoid the crash were also involved.
Police say one person with head and neck pain was transported to UVM Medical Center in Burlington for treatment.
Other delays and minor crashes were reported in the area of exit 14, and near the Lamoille River Bridge.
In Plattsburgh, Town Supervisor Michael Cashman also reported treacherous driving conditions. He thanked town highway crews and emergency personnel, firefighters and EMS for keeping people safe.
