Thousands of people packed Burlington’s Waterfront Park and the city’s Lake Champlain beaches for the annual July 3rd Independence Day celebration.

The festivities kicked off at 5:30 pm with music and lots of food trucks. The big event of the evening, of course, was the fireworks display, Vermont’s largest. It got underway shortly after 9:30 pm, and the 20-minute show drew plenty of applause when the last burst of the grand finale faded.

Food and music will continue at the park until midnight.

Our reporters will have more on the show, plus the rest of the day’s news at 10 pm and 11 pm.
