Green Mountain Transit has found a way to make your daily bus riding a bit more comfortable.
It’s called the ‘Bus Buddy Program’, which GMT has put in place to help support riders build up their confidence and bus riding skills while chugging around town.
According to the GMT website, they’re on the lookout for passionate public transit users to help support these riders on a day-to-day basis.
GMT says the so called ‘bus buddies’ will accompany a rider as they travel around the transit system as a team. They will teach their rider how to navigate different routes, achieve fare payments, read bus schedules, find bus stops around town, give safety tips, and so much more.
Green Mountain Transit in collaboration with Neighbor Rides, which is an initiative started by United Way Vermont, is searching for potential bus buddies in the area. GMT said they would host travel training workshops to train all volunteers who are interested.
All volunteers who agree to become a bus buddy will also receive a complimentary bus pass!
