New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has deployed 50 airmen from the New York Air National Guard to help with the response to Hurricane Florence, which is expected to make landfall in South Carolina late Friday..
Meanwhile, nine American Red Cross volunteers from Vermont and New Hampshire are on their way to Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia. Some volunteers have already arrived.
Kevin Mazuzan, Executive Director of the Vermont chapter of the American Red Cross says if you can donate blood, now is the time.
“Oftentimes, in an instant like this, we’re going to be canceling blood drives.” Said Mazuzan. “When those blood drives get canceled, clearly we’re not collecting the blood product that we need to have at a lot of those hospitals, so if you’ve got time, come in and donate.”
If you wish to donate to help the response, visit the American Red Cross website.
