South Burlington police say a man flagged down a vehicle Thursday, brandished a gun and then drove off in the stolen car before abandoning it on Williston Road, where he and an alleged female accomplice were arrested.

Police say they responded to a report of a carjacking in the area of White Street and Airport Drive about 9:40 am.

The identity of the man and woman who were arrested was not released, pending criminal charges. Police say it appears to have been a random act.

The investigation is on going and witnesses are being interviewed.

Police say the public “provided invaluable help by reporting this crime in both a timely and detailed fashion.”
