Plattsburgh City School District will repair Webb Island footbridge

Local News

After disagreements with the city’s mayor, the Plattsburgh City School District will fix a controversial footbridge itself.

The Press-Republican reports that the district plans to have the Webb Island footbridge ready for use by October.

The city’s Common Council approved repairs last year, but they were vetoed by Mayor Colin Read, who supported the idea of building a new bridge instead.

Before it closed in the fall of 2017, dozens of students used the Webb Island footbridge to get to and from Plattsburgh High School.
