Fire investigators want to know how a car ended up on fire in the middle of Falls Hill Road and Howe Lane in Tunbridge on Sunday.

The fire was quickly extinguished, police said, and the vehicle towed away.

The Vermont Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosions Unit says the fire started in the front passenger compartment. Investigators found the car had been stripped of usable parts and was either towed or brought to the road on a truck.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set. The owner of the vehicle has not been identified.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Tom Williams at the Rutland Barracks or call the Arson Tip Award Line at 1-800- ARSON.
