Authorities have identified the two men killed in a helicopter crash Tuesday in Clinton County.

The pilot, Robert T. Hoban Jr., 56, of Shamang, New Jersey, and a passenger, Jeremy P. Kearns, 30, of Massena, NY were pronounced dead at University of Vermont Health Network at Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital after the Aerospatiale AS 355 F2 came into contact with power lines and caught fire.

An autopsy has been scheduled Wednesday for Hoban and Thursday for Kearns.

Two other men, Benjamin L. McAllister, 30, of Hopkinton, NY, and Scott E. Fabia, 34, of Hyde Park, NY, were injured. Police say they have been released from the hospital.

Federal officials are expected to arrive Wednesday on the scene on Burke Road in Beekmantown, New York, where the accident occurred shortly before 4:30 pm Tuesday.

Investigators say the helicopter, owned by Catalyst Aviation LLC, was contracted by Northline Utilities for the New York Power Authority, to work on the power lines.
