Police: Vermont man on the run after crash, prompted lockdown in NH

Local News

A man with warrants out for his arrest in both Vermont and Massachusetts caused quite a reaction in one New Hampshire village, that it was put on lockdown for a time Wednesday.

It is suspected Zachariah A. McAllister, 28, crossed the Connecticut River into Vermont.

Vermont State Police say they were called to help out their counterpart in Walpole, New Hampshire around 10:30am, for a car that evaded a traffic stop and was going more than 100 miles per hour.  Officials say after McAllister crashed into a vehicle driven by a 72-year old woman, he got out of the car and took off.

Businesses and schools in Walpole were locked down until around 2:30pm.

Police say the Westminster, Vermont man has not been located.

Anyone with information should contact the Westminster State Police Barracks at (802) 722-4600.
