Reported assault leads to drug arrests in Barre City

Local News

BARRE, Vt. – Barre City police say two people have been arrested, after three search warrants were granted following an assault last week.

On June 19th, police were notified of an assault with a box cutter.

Police searched an apartment on Barre Street in Montpelier, belonging to Christopher Prevost and Jessica Getty.  Officers say they found crack cocaine, heroin, 5-loaded hypodermic needles and illicit prescription drugs.

Officers have charged Prevost for the aggravated assault with a weapon stemming from last week’s incident.  When he was arrested, Prevost was driving a vehicle that didn’t belong to him, and officers noticed stolen items in the car.  At that time another search warrant was granted, and police recovered a .45 caliber handgun.

As of Monday, Prevost is being held without bail.

Police say a third person, Iman Hardy of Malden, Massachusetts was arrested on federal charges connected to an earlier drug case.  Hardy was turned over to DEA agents.
