An autopsy has determined that a 56-year-old Rouses Point woman whose body was found Tuesday on a frozen Lake Champlain died of hypothermia after suffering a head injury in a fall on the ice.

Ruth Danielson-O’Hearn’s death was an accidental, said Clinton County Coroner David F. Donah.

Danielson-O’Hearn’s body was found on the ice along Stony Point Road in Champlain. Police said she frequently walked in the area where she was found.

Traffic was rerouted for much of the day Tuesday as investigators combed the scene.
