Rutland City restaurant robbed at gunpoint, suspect arrested

Rutland City Police have arrested a suspect in an armed robbery that happened Wednesday at China Kitchen restaurant.

Rutland City patrol officers and detectives responded to the restaurant at rougly 8 pm, along with Vermont State Police, but were intially unable to locate the suspect, police said. They learned the restaurant had been robbed at gun point and the suspect had fled on foot.

After reviewing China Kitchen’s surveillance video, detectives identified the suspect as Timothy Gabriel. 

Around 10pm, Gabriel was located at a city residence and taken into custody without incident. Evidence recovered from Gabriel included the firearm used in the robbery, according to police.

He has been charged with assault and robbery, a felony, and reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.
