St Albans man, just out of prison for domestic assault, accused of strangling woman

Local News

A St. Albans man is in custody for allegedly strangling a woman in a motel room just two weeks after his release from jail for domestic assault.

Elijah Torres, 33, was arrested at the Econo Lodge in St. Albans after police responded to a report that a woman was being attacked. Police said the victim showed signs of strangulation.

Torres was transported to Northwest State Correctional Facility and jailed for lack of $10,000 bail. He faces charges of 1st-degree aggravated domestic assault.

Torres was released June 24 from Northwest State Correctional Facility after serving five months for domestic assault and reckless endangerment.
