St. Albans stabbing victims arrested for attempted armed robbery, assault

Local News

Police say the Highgate man who was stabbed outside a St. Albans hotel last week was arrested over the weekend for attempted assault and armed robbery.

Tyler Bushey, 18, and Hannah Bockus, 21, allegedly threatened an unnamed victim late Friday afternoon. They were arrested just before 1 a.m. Saturday during a traffic stop.

Bushey was critically wounded in a stabbing outside the La Quinta Inn at 813 Fairfax Road on September 3. Bockus witnessed the attack and told police Bushey was approached and stabbed by a man later identified as Harrison Ogbunize, 33, of Springfield, Mass.

Police say Bockus and Bushey pulled up outside a residence on Russell Street in a black Audi A4 around 5:45 p.m. Friday. Bushey exited the passenger seat and allegedly attempted to assault the victim, demanding money and other items.

Bockus allegedly brandished a 9-mm Glock during the incident. Witnesses told police Bushey and Bockus threatened to physically harm the victim when Bushey healed from the stabbing. Police said Bushey believes the victim set Bushey up for the attack at the La Quinta Inn.

Bushey and Bockus are scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Monday on the felony attempted assault and robbery charges. Bockus also faces a weapons charge.

Police have issued a warrant for Ogbunize’s arrest on attempted murder charges. A second man is also being sought, but he has not been identified. Police say the men returned a rented black 2019 Chevrolet Camaro to Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Conn.
