Two Burlington men were arrested over the weekend for the alleged armed robbery of a convenience store and the violent assault of two female cashiers on May 6.
Ethan Villemaire, 28, is being held on $25,000, charged with robbing Simon’s Downtown Quick Stop on South Winooski Avenue in Burlington. Police said two cashiers on duty were subjected to a “violent and sustained” attack before Villemaire fled with an unknown amount of cash..
The second suspect, Jeffrey Leduc, 32, who was in custody of the Department of Corrections on unrelated charges, has been charged with accessory to assault and robbery before and after the fact.
The cashiers were treated for non-life threatening injuries at UVM Medical Center, Burlington police said.
