The University of Vermont Board of Trustees has decided who the school’s new president will be.
The UVM student newspaper, the Vermont Cynic, reports that the board voted Friday to appoint Dr. Suresh Garimella as the new president. He was the lone finalist for the position.
Garimella is an executive vice president at Purdue University, and he’s also a professor of mechanical engineering there. In November, President Trump appointed him to the National Science Board.
The Cynic reports that UVM students and faculty have criticized the search process for a lack of transparency.
Last year, Tom Sullivan announced that he’d stop down from the president’s job this summer to finish writing a book and that he’d join the UVM faculty after that.
