Skiers and riders stranded on the lift for hours

More than 150 skiers and snowboarders were evacuated from a chairlift at Stowe Mountain Resort Sunday.

Jeff Wise, a spokesman for the resort, said the Lookout Double life stopped operating at around 10:30 a.m. due to an electrical issue.

Mount Mansfield Ski Patrol began evacuating the lift at 10:45 a.m. and managed to have all guests safely off the lift by 1 p.m.

“Stowe Mountain Resort sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused to our guests,” said Wise.

A big thanks to Jeff Filipov for sharing photos and video with us. The season pass holder stressed how calm, kind and professional the staff were during the ordeal.
