Investigators say a fire in Tunbridge, Vermont that destroyed a home and garage is suspicious.

The call came in around 3:45 Tuesday morning, to an address on Gage Hill Road.

The home was behind a long driveway and locked gate, making it difficult to gain access.  In fact, firefighters say they couldn’t find the fire for about 45 minutes.

Police say they discovered three outbuildings were also broken into.

The fire is classified as undetermined.  The extent of the damage is estimated to be around $250,000.  According to a news release, the home belonged to the estate of Alice Smith.

They are following up on leads.  But if you saw people walking in the area, or on an ATV, call police.

A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
