Our weekend started off beautifully with sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Clouds have been moving back in since early afternoon ahead of a warm front. For the rest of our Saturday clouds and periods of rain will continue, with a final push of showers along with a weak thunderstorm or two. Good weather to fall asleep to.

Sunday morning we are starting mostly cloudy and dry for the majority of us, models are showing a few minor light showers in the Champlain Valley to get the day going. Temperatures will start in upper 50s Sunday morning and will climb into the low 70s by noon. Those running in the Vermont City Marathon, we will see temperatures in the middle 70s between noon and 3pm, good news dewpoints will remain in the 50s. There is a cold front that will move across the area Sunday afternoon between 3pm & 6pm that could spark up scattered rain or a weak thunderstorm along the front. Latest guidance as of Saturday evening shows the best chance of these storms will be eastern Vermont into New Hampshire. These storms should move out rather quickly, I wouldn’t go canceling any cookout parties. Though if you find yourself underneath one of these storms you will have to move inside for 10-20 minutes.

Memorial Day we are looking forward to clearing skies as high pressure slides south out of Canada, it will have a refreshing feeling as high temperatures only hit the upper 60s to near 70°. Moving into the middle part of next week we will have another chance of rain return on Tuesday as an area of low-pressure rides along a stationary front. Additionally, Wednesday and Thursday will have the off chance of a passing light shower or two.

Tonight: Cloudy with periods of rain arriving during the early evening. Low: mid-50s. Wind: South 5-10mph.

Sunday: Clouds to start– leading to a mixture of sun and clouds late morning/early afternoon. High: middle & upper 70s. Wind: South to West 10mph. Depending on how much sunshine we see during the late morning and early afternoon will play a big role in thunderstorm development on Sunday afternoon. A cold front will move across the area between 3-6pm that could fire off scattered rain with an isolated thunderstorm or two. Don’t go canceling any outdoor plans! Not a washout.

Sunday Night: Clouds clear, watch out for areas of fog in locations that see rain. Low: low 50s.

Memorial Day: An area of high pressure from Canada will clear out clouds and give us a seasonable but refreshing airmass. High: upper 60s to 70°. Wind: North 10mph.

For those boating this weekend, water temperatures are still dangerously cold! Latest on Lake Champlain, water temperatures are in the upper 40s. Also, the lake is still in minor flood stage, watch out for submerged obstacles.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with scattered rain. High: mid-60s.

Wednesday & Thursday: Partly sunny and the chance of a shower or two. High: mid to upper 70s.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend,
