Weather: Dropping temp New Year’s Day (1/1 AM)

Local News
Tuesday January 1st

Good morning! Happy New Year!

Following a mess of a New Year’s Eve with mixed wintry precipitation, any leftover rain showers come to a close Tuesday morning as a cold front pivots through the region. That cold front pushes mild morning temps in the mid 30s to around 40 degrees down to the 20s by this afternoon, with a wind chill approaching zero. That wind is out of the southwest before the front, then shifting to out of the northwest at 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. A few post-frontal snow showers will light up northern and western facing mountain slopes to the tune of a dusting to 1-2″. Tonight, quieting and clearing with a low near zero.

Wednesday, tons of sunshine is around, but the temp only reaches into the teens. Wednesday night, it’s back down to near zero again, but a warm-up commences Thursday. We return to the low 30s with a dusting to a couple inches of light snow falling during the morning. Mid to upper 30s and partial sunshine by Friday.

Have a great day! Stay warm!
