Weather: Hiccups along the road to summer (6/17/2019)

Planner for Tuesday June 18 2019

Good Monday evening!  Hopefully, you had a great Father’s Day Weekend!  Monday was a stunner of a day out there with nice sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s. Monday night plans look good to go with clear skies and temperatures falling into the mid 50s. If you liked Monday’s weather, I’ve got good for you, it’s going to hang around for more than just a day. Tuesday looks to be beautiful with mostly sunny skies and highs floating right around 80°.  We will see a few more clouds and an isolated shower or 2 in southern Vermont. The more north you live, you’ll have a sunnier day. Tuesday night looks pretty darn nice as well.  If you plan on heading out to the Lake Monsters home game at Centennial Field, expect mostly clear skies and temperatures just above 70. Overnight Tuesday, clouds will get thicker but the night stays dry; temperatures will dip into the mid 50s.

Wednesday, we have a chance of pop up showers or thunderstorms. While we’re not expecting anything severe, a rumble of thunder and flash of lightning cannot be ruled out.  I would not cancel any outdoor plans quite yet but, you’ll want to keep your eye to the sky. Remember, if you’re close enough to hear thunder, you’re close enough to get struck by lightning. Meanwhile, outside of any showers or storms, highs will soar into the upper 70s & low 80s.

Thursday through Friday morning will be the wettest stretch of the week. Expect steady rain to start during the day Thursday and continue through about midday Friday. Some of the rain Thursday night may come down a little heavy at times. Thursday’s highs will get into the mid 70s while lows overnight into Friday stay warm, falling to around 60°. There’s a silver lining here, by Friday the rain leaves and the sun returns for the first day of summer! The solstice happens at 11:54am, it’s the longest day of the year and in case you were wondering, it clocks in at 15 hours 32 minutes and 18 seconds. Unfortunately, that means our days will start getting shorter again 🙁  We might as well keep the snow tires on. Maybe that’s a little dramatic. As of now, the weekend looks perfect under mostly sunny skies and highs in the middle & upper 70s.

Have a great week!
