Weather: More clouds than sun for Mother’s Day

Local News

Good evening folks, I hope your Mother’s Day weekend is off to a great start! We are looking at a mostly quiet end to our weekend before more unsettled weather arrives.

Let’s wrap up the rest of our Saturday, those living away from the Champlain Valley should expect areas of patchy frost! Cover up or bring inside any sensitive vegetation. The remainder of the night is under partly to mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures in the upper 30s to the low 40s around Lake Champlain to the low and middle 30s away from the lake. During the overnight hours, a cluster of rain showers will pass close to southern New England, and a few will pass thought Vermont & New Hampshire along the Massachusetts border.

Those living in southernmost communities should expect a mostly cloudy day for Sunday, with those living further north to expect a similar day to Saturday. Overall temperatures will hit the upper 50s to low 60s across the Champlain Valley, while those in southern Vermont & New Hampshire deal with clouds and slightly cooler temperatures in the low and middle 50s.

Kicking off early next week out weather pattern will become unsettled once again. I feel like I am starting to sound a bit like a broken record. A low-pressure system will move across the south, and provide us with showers Monday and into Tuesday. Colder air on Tuesday will be pulled south out of Canada allowing for mountain snow in areas above 2,000′. Looking ahead towards the rest of the week it’s going to be cooler than average with more unsettled weather. This is thanks to an upper-level feature, it will allow for periods hit or miss rain for the mid and latter half of the week.

Tonight: For some, it will be chilly with patchy frost outside of the Champlain Valley. Temperatures fall to the middle and upper 30s. Wind: Light & Variable.

Mother’s Day: A system passing to the south will allow for a few spotty showers in extreme southern Vermont & New Hampshire. Otherwise, more clouds than sunshine are expected, with a slight increase to the afternoon temperatures. Highs reach the upper 50s and low 60s. Wind: North 10mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, overnight lows fall to the middle 40s. Wind: East 5mph.

Monday: Cloudy, spotty showers across western NY, more numerous showers expected late afternoon/night. Afternoon high, the upper 50s to 60°. Wind: East 10mph.

Tuesday: Periods of rain along with cloudy skies. Afternoon high, the upper 40s. Evening snow showers possible for areas above 2,000′. Wind: Northeast 10mph.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and Happy Mother’s Day.
