Breast cancer survivors and their friends, family and supporters walked together to end the disease Sunday.

Six hundred people walked in the 9th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in South Burlington.

Nearly $200,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society.

That money goes toward transportation assistance, the Hope Lodge, which provides temporary homes for cancer patients undergoing treatment in Burlington and research.

“Breast cancer research, that’s huge, we obviously all want that to happen, but that’s a huge part, and all the money stays here in Vermont,” said Sue Smith, from Team Jolley Cups.

Local 22/Local44’s Lauren Maloney MC’d the event with Mary Cenci from STAR 92.9.

Local 22/Local 44 is a proud sponsor of the walk.
