WATERBURY, Vt. – Police say 49-year old Richard Baldwin was arrested for providing false reports to law enforcement.
At about 6:30 Thursday night, state police say Baldwin called the cops to report his girlfriend, Ellen Hater told him that she allowed the two fugitives that escaped from Clinton Correctional in Dannemora, to sleep in the basement of their apartment in Waterbury Village.
Police say when they arrived to speak to the two, Baldwin was intoxicated and later admitted to having made the false report.
As of Thursday night, Baldwin was being held at Barre City Police Department.
