People gathered at Echo Leahy Center in Burlington for the 6th annual Martin Luther King Jr. community celebration.
It’s part of a nationwide initiative to make the holiday a “day on” not a “day off”.
People reflected on diversity and inclusion through songs and conversation.
Choirs from the Sustainability Academy and Integrated Arts Academy performed several songs.
Mayor Miro Weinberger says events like this reflect the beliefs of MLK. “He believed in our kids and he believed in the parents that would come out and teach their kids right and events like this and gatherings like this will eventually lead to a better country.” Said Weinberger.
Echo offered free admission to today making it the busiest day of the year.
