New ambulance service to focus on non-emergent transportation

ESSEX JUNTION, Vt.- Vermont will soon have a new ambulance service specializing in non-emergent transport.

Garnet Transport Medicine will offer 24-7 inter-facility transport across the state. Its ambulances are equipped for basic and advanced life support.

The Essex Junction-based company will launch Monday with a focus on non-emergencies, taking patients between facilities.

Garnet is the creation of a longtime Vermont paramedic, Ryan Ferris.

“Where we think we are more unique is in the approach to how we are doing it, constant commitment to higher quality of patient care.” he said. “Our technology infrastructure is pretty comprehensive which allows us to be more operationally efficient, provide faster services to clients quicker, efficiently and accurately”

Ferris says the company is still considering whether it will provide 911-services.

Garnet will employ more than 20 people once it’s fully operational.
