The Vermont Lake Monsters were shut out by the Hudson Valley Renegades 6-0 Thursday night, allowing the Renegades to complete a 2-0 sweep of the championship series and earn a third New York-Penn League Championship.
The Lake Monsters managed just one hit during game two of the finals. A disappointing number, especially following a fourteen-hit defeat in game one.
Field manager Aaron Nieckula said, “I’m very proud and very happy to have been these guys’ manager this year. It was a great group, on the field, off the field, and just fun to be around. So I expect great things for a lot of these players in their pro future.”
The Stedler Division Champion Lake Monsters finish the campaign with a postseason record of 44-35, completing the team’s best season in 20 years.
