SUNY Plattsburgh professor’s son killed in crash; wife in intensive care

SUNY Plattsburgh is mourning Wednesday after learning that a faculty member’s son died following a car crash that also left the professor’s wife with serious injuries.

Dalton Criss, the son of Dexter Criss , an associate professor of organic chemistry, died Tuesday in a Burlington hospital, one day after the crash on Route 3 west of Plattsburgh. ,

A 2019 Peru High School graduate, Dalton Criss was set to begin classes at SUNY Plattsburgh next week, according to a Facebook post by SUNY Plattsburgh. .

His mother, Barbara Criss remains in intensive care, according to the post.

“The Criss’ daughter, Danielle, is a SUNY Plattsburgh student and we are broken by this news.”

Dexter Criss is also artistic director of the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir.
