The New Hampshire Senate defeated a bill that would have allowed online voter registrations on Thursday.
Bill Sponsor Sen. Bette Lasky (D-Nashua) says he is disappointed and would have made registering to vote more consistent and accessible, while lessening the burden of same-day registration on municipalities.
“New Hampshire has built a strong reputation for voter participation, but we can always do more to help busy Granite Staters take part in our elections,” Sen. Lasky said. “New Hampshire needs to continually move forward as technology advances and find new and creative ways to make voting more accessible.”
Twenty-three states have already implemented online voter registration, with five more being added to the list.
