New Hampshire’s senate passed SB 224, a bill to ban the controversial practice of conversion therapy in regards to sexual orientation, for anyone 18 or younger.

A similar bill failed to pass last May.

Senator Fuller Clark, D-Portsmouth, applauded the move, saying “no child should be told they are not equal, not worthy, or should somehow conform to be like everybody else.”

Brenna Connoly, 18, of Nashua, released a statement saying: “Conversion therapy is a dangerous, discredited practice and is nothing more than sanctioned discrimination that does incredible physical and mental harm to LGBTQ children.”

Vermont banned conversion therapy last July.
