OFFICIALS: Car Comes Loose Off Trailer, Hits Burlington Home

Car hits home in Burlington, officials say

A vehicle came loose off a moving cargo trailer and hit an Old North End home Monday evening, according to the Burlington Fire Department officials.

It happened at around 6:15 on the corner of Lafountain Street and Manhattan Drive.

“The vehicle had been secured to the private trailer by a ratcheting style tie down strap that snapped, allowing the vehicle to leave the trailer; coming to a rest on the Manhattan Drive side of the house after penetrating an exterior wall,” according to a press release sent by the fire department.

The house was structurally stable, fire officials say, even though the exterior brick wall was heavily damaged and two structural beams were compromised.

A three season porch was deemed structurally unstable.

No injures were reported.
