The Barre community is rallying to help people who have lost food due to power outages following Sunday night’s wind storm.
The Vermont Foodbank is donated 10,000 pounds of food to the effort.
“Once the power outage was on day two, I knew this was going to have a real impact on those most vulnerable in our city,” said Barre Mayor Thom Lauzon.
“I knew we needed to do something to help. So like in years past when other crises hit, I reached out to Capstone Community Action. Together, with the Vermont Foodbank, we put this effort together and now look to the community to support their neighbors,” Lauzon continued.
Special restock hours will be held Friday and Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the food shelf at 20 Gable Place in Barre. If you can’t make it at those times, call 802-479-1053.
