Following a decade on the gridiron, the Oxbow Olympians have elected to suspend varsity football for the 2017 season and will only play at the junior varsity level.
Oxbow athletic director Bri Barnes confirmed on Twitter what was first reported by the Valley News: Only fourteen players showed up for camp this week, eleven of which were underclassmen.
Seven other Division-III programs as well as Division-II Spaulding will likely be forced into a bye on weeks they were scheduled to play against Oxbow.
The program hopes to be back at the varsity level for the 2018 campaign.
