Patriots Alumni Host Youth Camp in Burlington

Former members of the New England Patriots visited Burlington on Friday.  It was a unique opportunity to for kids in the area to play with the former pros.

Youth between ages nine and fourteen had a chance to enjoy some non-contact drills at Roosevelt Park.  The Patriot Players team up with with area high school staff along their twenty city tour to make the free clinics happen.

For the former pros, the one day camps are their favorite way to keep in touch.

Former lineman Pete Brock says, “Instead of just getting together once and a while and reminding each other how famous we once were, we thought we’d mobilize and do something out in the community.  Patriots Alumni allows these guys to gather and be part of this.  To get out in the community like this is exactly why we do it.  And, you know, just to be able to share the benefits of team sports and give these kids the same opportunities that we have.”

The alumni capped the day with a $1,000  donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington.  The clinics are part of the NFL’s “Play 60” campaign which encourages kids to eat healthy and exercise at least an hour each day.
