Outdoor adventurers took on Burlington and Winooski by land and by water Sunday.
It was the inaugural Winooski Pedal and Paddle event.
Participants took a four mile bike ride through Burlington starting at the Ethan Allen Homestead and finishing in the Onion City.
They then swap bikes for kayaks and canoes and make their way back to the Homestead via the Winooski River.
“The bike portion through the Intervale goes through the farms and along the river, so it’s very beautiful, scenic, gives a good view of the river and the lower watershed here. And then the paddle is a very calm, mellow paddle,” said Lauren Chicote with Winooski Valley Park District.
The event is a partnership between the Winooski Valley Park District, the City of Winooski and the Friends of the Winooski River.
Money from the event goes to Friends of the Winooski River, a group dedicated to the protection and restoration of the Winooski River.
