Plattsburgh Police say 170 bags of fentanyl was discovered during a traffic stop.
According to a media release, Kayleigh Filion, 27, of West Chazy and Michael Malseptic, 22, of Plattsburgh were arrested on Wednesday after police found individually wrapped packets of fentanyl.
Police say that if heroin users use the fentanyl that was packaged as heroin the drugs could put themselves at risk for an overdose or death.
Officials say the packages are marked as “Easy Money” and “Bat Man”, with blue logos on clear wax paper.
According to a media release, the street value of the drugs is $18,000.
“I thank our City Police for their live-saving work. Never before has such concentrated drugs been confiscated here. There is an extremely high risk of overdose death when Fentanyl is packaged in such a high concentration. Their police work likely saved lives,” said City of Plattsburgh Mayor Colin Read.
Officials say both Filion and Malseptic are both being charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree a class “B” felony.
